My practice routine every day, using a 4-day variant for the jazz language
1. Warm up:
Breathing exercices, like keeping a nice air stream for as long as I can without losing focus.
Low tones (F# to C) on the mouthpiece, then on the trumpet
2 to 5 note scales, as soft and clear as possible, working in both low and mid-high register (not going higher than F to stay balanced)
Flexibilities (partials,Colin-style, from F# to C)
2.Triads and their inversions on one octave. Going chromatically up and down/down and up in triplets. The goal here is to pratice my tonguing and memorize the inversions as well.
3. Clarke studies n.1 and 3, trying to keep a well-balanced sound through the numbers.
4. Scales patterns/intervals, one per day (13b9/Fourths/1245/sus triads)
5 . Apply said patterns on a vamp (dim7, 7sus, m7, etc...)
6. Repertoire (only the most difficult parts in charts I'm working on)
Might as well do some sight reading there.
7. lip thrills, gradually working my way up without stressing my lips.
8. Practicing chord changes patterns, 1 per day (Christophs, Minor and major turnarounds, unusual cadences, etc..). Focusing on various points of the changes (such as a sub five or backdoor lick I could try there or here).
9. Playing purely by ear over one II-V per day (or Backdoor, or chromatic two-five)
10. Low tones as a warm down.
What do you think? I'm trying to be as efficient as possible, covering many aspects of my playing, dividing the whole session into smaller 30 minute runs to prevent fatigue and bad habits. My goal is to have a successful, target-oriented practice mindset which will make me slowly but globally improve in many aspects. I'm racking my brains to find something wrong, but if you have anything in mind, please speak up.
P.s: yes I'm working in all 12 keys.
Think of content but also of order of practice if you want to make suggestions.

Warm regards,

Honestly I haven't touched anything regarding multiple tonguing since
1) I have not met specific repertoire including this
2) I am still unsatisfied with my single tonguing and breath attacks, so I'm saving the ''extras'' for later |

Best post I have ever seen on TH - welcome!
I also agree with your self assessment, that get good single tonguing and breath attacks before moving on to multiple tonguing. I would just add that working on multiple tonguing refines the airstream, so it is excellent even when you're not currently playing anything that requires it. |

Then I guess I'll find out how to play it by playing it |
