What's the best (and most affordable) PA solution for vocals in small to medium size clubs? _________________ Jim Hatfield

Yamaha StagePas is nice and affordable. Comes with speakers, 8 channel mixer and plus other goodies. $899

Benge Nut beat me to it. Not sure if they're the best. But I like the Yamaha STAGEPAS 400i or 600i. Lots of power for small to medium sized venues. Very portable. Phantom power. Pretty affordable. Only a limited number of channels. But for vocals and a few other instruments, it could be a good choice.

I've also gotten Fender models, and there are a bunch of them around. Yamaha has a good rep for reliability.
Note balance could be an issue; for a while, I used an X-Y pair to pick up the band and mix it in with the vocal so a little bit f everything came out the speaker. Small clubs might not give you the distance needed for a decent blend and you don't want the vocal overpowering the band for people near the speaker. _________________ "After silence, that which best expresses the inexpressible, is music" - Aldous Huxley |

Thanks, guys!
I may pop for a Yamaha system soon. In the meantime, I'm struggling with a weird problem with my JBL/Eon 610 and Shure SM58 microphone.
No sound!
As you may know, the 610 has a mic/line button and I've set it properly I think.
And as far as I know the Shure is a dynamic mic so I should be getting sound with it but I get nothing. All the speaker lights are on.
I've checked the XLR connections and they seem okay,
What gives? _________________ Jim Hatfield

Try the switch both ways.
Try a different cable.
Try a different mic.
As a sanity check, it is not an SM58S, with a switch on the mic? _________________ "After silence, that which best expresses the inexpressible, is music" - Aldous Huxley |
