Hi all,

I've never been to the ITG conference, and am considering going this year, but I'm mostly interested in having lessons with some of the clinicians that live far away from me and will be attending. Any opinions on whether or not it's likely to be possible to have a lesson or two during ITG, or is it too busy/generally crowded for such a thing to be plausible?

Thanks!

Steve, this is a general question. Why not contact the player personally to see the specific answer?

Two years ago I attended an ITG morning workshop featuring Jim Manley. I was interested in his approach so asked if I could have a lesson, no problem. Later that day he came to my room and spent well more than an hour coaching me, play testing my horn, and telling MF stories. This was the best lesson I ever had.

Last year I recognized Larry Meregillano in the lobby and asked for a lesson. Larry came to my room and brought along Geoff Winstead, two for the price of one, but wait! After the lesson he would not let my pay so I ended up taking Larry to dinner extending out time together.

This year I wonder which world class player I will approach for instruction.

Always ask, most players will do their best to find a moment to help.

Best, Jon

I got a lesson from Kenny Werner when he came to town with his quintet by just emailing him through his website. I let him know I was going to attend the concert and if we could have a lesson either before or after. I ended up getting an hour+ "effortless mastery" lesson after the show. And the concert...well, it was life changing!
