Quick question - does Dillon make a 3 valve piccolo trumpet? Somebody is trying to sell me one but on Dillons website they only have a 4 valve pic and a rotary pic. Did they stop making the 3 valve?
If anybody has played or tried a 3 valve pic out from them, was it any good? |

The only 3-valve model I can think of would be the 3-piston plus rotary where someone replaced the 3rd slide with rotor for one without the rotor. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."

Yes, I own one
3 valve plus rotor and an extra 3rd slide if you want to remove the rotor
Most of them came with a Blackburn pipe - I bought an early one and added the pipe later. It helped the horn a lot as did a short shank mpc or a cornet mpc with an adaptor. Removing the 3rd valve bottom cap also helped - don't know why, but it made low C speak better.
Works well for a starter or occasional use horn. Not a Schilke, but usable short model horn for those of us that don't have the $$ to sink onto a horn to only use a few times a year. Mine has paid for it's self..........
The Blackburn pipe is a big deal. If it does not come with one call Dillion Music and make sure you can get one. |

Great good to know. I just bought one online for $300 and was just making sure I wasn't getting scammed. Hopefully it turns out to be a good deal. |

I once saw a 3-valve Yamaha for sale and briefly looked into buying the 3rd slide with rotor and was told that assembly was very costly. I wonder if someone bought a Dillon 3+1 and sold off the rotor slide to recoup a good fraction of the price of the entire horn. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."
