In researching the Trumcor Zinger Mute, I noticed a picture of Doc playing a Trumpet with what appears to be 2 leadpipes ( http://www.trumcor.com/ ). Am I mistaken? What is the purpose? Just curious.

You're not mistaken.

Testing out another leadpipe is likely the purpose. One of them, is probably either taped or temporarily attached on the horn to allow a player to try it out without soldering and also compare to the original.

I'm surprised Doc doesn't have 3 leadpipes on there! (Just kidding)

Thx for the insight! That's a relatively easy way to try out other leadpipes on an existing setup without the extra step and cost of the solder route. I'll file that info away for future reference if and when it applies to a situation for me needing or wanting a new leadpipe!

I've got a buddy with a very early Benge that had two permanently installed leadpipes. He said he had it done by Benge at the factory.
