Starting off with "I'll Fly Away", including "Amazing Grace", "Swing Low" and others, this is a list (continuous play of 10 songs) of some really well done old hymns in big band style. Really great musicians and arrangements; I just love this stuff (when it's well done).
Check out the Christian Group "Salvador's" very first recording entitled "Salvador." Some incredible horns from Nashville including Steve Patrick playing Lead. Great recording. _________________ Schilke X3 Bb trumpet

Very nice. Thanks for the post Jonathan. BTW, was down in Houston a couple of weeks ago on business and forgot how brutal the traffic was. Coming in on 290 from Austin unto downtown full of construction work and 610 was not too much better as far as traffic into downtown. Almost miss my appointment. Lesson learned, next time I'll come the night before and stay at a hotel. Otherwise, the trip was quite nice. _________________ "If you find a job you really like, you'll never work a day in your life".

Ed; Yes, traffic in Houston can be brutal. I think we have fairly good bypasses... almost 3 complete around the city but still - 1 accident and it can bottle up any road your're on. And if it rains, well, just give up.
On a better note (pun intended) glad you liked the big band hymns! _________________ Jonathan Milam

Russell mentioned Steve Patrick (sadly, I've never tried his mouthpieces - but what a player!)... He plays on some of these big band numbers, one linked here.
The neat thing about these is that the sheet music is readily available - and the order or contact info is listed on the Youtube vid. This would definitely liven up some (most?) of our churches, I think.

I see Steve EVERYWHERE!! He's such a killin' solid trumpeter. He's on so many records, and I see him on tv stuff all the time. I think the last ABC Christmas show had Steve, and I caught a glimpse of him at President Trump's inauguration ball and lots of other stuff. Dude is everywhere!
Just a stone cold bad man on trumpet!! Thanks for sharing this gospel/salsa clip. Cool stuff as well.
