I then printed it out and scanned it into the Finale 2014's included version of SmartScore Lite.
I think that this is a relevant point. We also managed to scan a music pdf into Sibelius, but in both these cases, the software includes a programme for this very purpose. Sadly the later version of Sibelius which my husband has upgraded to, doesn't come with an associated programme for scanning music into it, probably because his later version is of Sibelius First rather than the full Sibelius version. I don't believe that there is a associated programme for MuseScore 2, which I am using.
It imported but was full of errors. To be fair the part I scanned is not trivial with lots of cue notes that always trip up the recognition software.
Yes, I understand, thanks. I think these types of recognition software can only really cope with clear straight forward parts.
