Hi, I'm considering buying a replacement b flat and I'm looking at either the Shires Alwf or a Harrelson 1 bell and leadpipe. Does anyone have an opinion on how these 2 horns compare?

Out of curiosity, what has led you to those two horns? Steve Shires and Jason Harrelson both make fine trumpets.

Jason's Harrelson's 1 bell is along the lines of a Bach 37 bell. His 1 leadpipe is along the lines of a Bach 25 leadpipe. I owned a Harrelson 1/1 Summit and thought that it was a nice setup.

The Shires ALWF has a similar bell taper, but a lightweight bell. I would expect it to be a bit brighter and more nimble than the Harrelson 1/1. I owned a standard weight AF and thought it was a fantastic horn.

Good luck!

I haven't tried a Harrelson, but did get some time on a standard Shires AF. Quite a horn. The most response standard leadpipe setup I've ever played. Very Bach 37ish, but more resonant and lighter. If I had 3600 to play with, I'd definitely have it on my short list.

I own a Shires C trumpet and that was the reason for looking at a Shires b flat. My motivation for getting a Harrelson is because I like the feel of a horn that's heavy weight.
