There are unfortunately, stories on TH about horns being stolen. Usually, it's from someone's car. Be careful out there.... |
I know man, and it happened to friends of mine as well. I never leave horns in the car; if I leave the car I leave with my Bb. I seldom need anything more than a Bb either. I wouldn't dream of loading and keeping my horns in the car. Mutes I can lose, thats NBD, horns.... no. Them's children!! |
I can often be found among the veggies at the market with my trumpets on my back...
I do like "the boot trumpet" though. Always ready to jam! _________________ Kevin |

Hi rockford
If that it all you need, sounds good to me.
Take care
Lou | Most of what I do is teach high school age a.d younger and play in a classic rock band. We don't need no stinkin mutes.😎 |
Hi rockford
If you don't need no stinkin mutes, I can see why you don't carry them lol.
Unfortunately I do need those stinkin mutes.
Take care

Hi
After swapping my trumpet and cornet cases for a double case which holds both, I finally decided to go to one accessory bag for trumpet and cornet.
Anyway, this is what I put in it:
Brass Band folder
Two small cardboard orchestra folders
Fold up K&M metal music stand
2 K&M trumpet/cornet stands
Small bottles of water
A quad mouthpiece pouch containing a spare mouthpiece cut for sleeves and a James R New 6.5 and 6.25 sleeve for my Yamaha and Bach trumpets respectfully + spare cornet mouthpiece + spare flugel mouthpiece
Tim Wendt's leadpipe swab (H W Brass Saver is in my double trumpet/cornet case).
Band Tie
Black Tie for depping with other bands
Black Bow Tie for depping with other bands
Red brooch/bangle as something red for orchestra uniform
Valve oil/slide grease since my double trumpet/flugel case has no compartment for oil/grease
Pencil case containing stationery/pencil in magnetic holder/tool for tightening top of stand to stop it flipping backwards with a heavier folder
Pencil case containing music clips and batteries/spare batteries
Mighty Bright light
Lyre (I've never once used it, and it was in the case of a used cornet I bought once)
Spare (previous prescription) reactions glasses which double as sunglasses for outside playing
Denis Wick straight, cup, ET and plunger mutes.
H&B Bucket mute
I carry my Yamaha Xeno II trumpet and Yamaha Xeno cornet in the following case:
http://www.jpmusicalinstruments.com/JP-Pro-Double-Trumpet-Case.html
I carry my Bach trumpet/Bach flugel in a new old stock hard trumpet/flugel case as supplied with an older version Getzen Eterna flugel, which owing to the slightly squashy flugel slot, will fit the wrap of my Bach 183 flugel.
Since I now carry my cornet and trumpet together in a double case, I have stopped carrying my Boosey and Hawkes Oxford trumpet as spare, figuring that my cornet would serve as a spare in the hopefully unlikely occurrence of something happening to my trumpet to make it unplayable.
I still carry a spare cornet for brass band. Maybe it is just my supposition, thankfully never yet having had to switch to a spare instrument, but I have a feeling that cornet (although obviously not ideal) would be more acceptable in the orchestra than trumpet in a brass band lol.
All the best

What I tend to carry (in my MB compact triple):
Bb
Eb or Piccolo (often but not always needed)
2/3 mouthpieces
Valve oil, slide grease, vaseline. mouthpiece brush
Pencil
Don Maslet practice mute
Bach black plastic
Hercules travelite stand
iPad/sheet music
And then if I need more, I take my protec double mute bag (which actually holds about 7 mutes, plus stand lights and clothes pegs etc (and a kazoo and egg shaker for some reason)).
My flugel and most mutes tend to sit at home, however. _________________ Trumpeting in progress
