I learned this from a great teacher years ago. Hold the horn with mouthpiece off your chops and buzz a middle G. Bring the horn into contact with your chops and hold that not as a long tone. I do this for about 2-3 minutes and then start playing. You can either go up the scale or just hang on to that G. Great warm up to get your lips vibrating and it also helps set up your chops to where they should be on the mouthpiece.

Just my thoughts.

Cheers

Gentlemen, step away from this thread and practice your instruments. Or enjoy some family time (which I know from personal experience the family would prefer to hearing more flexibilities, technical studies and range exercises).

So buzzing is bad, because you could be playing the trumpet instead. And even discussing buzzing is bad, because you could be playing the trumpet instead. So doesn't that mean that trolling the buzzing discussions is bad, because you could be playing the trumpet instead?
OH, come on, let's face it. John is just plain all around bad!

Are you suggesting that all buzzed tones are good tones, because I would take issue with that.

No. I never suggested anything like that.

Well, that might explain a few things.
