Recently purchased a Frate (i.e. Italian-made) 1+S mouthpiece at the ITG conference in Hershey, PA. This rather huge/deep mouthpiece lit up my Getzen 3850 cornet in a way that set me back on my heels.

Sometimes you never can figure why a particular horn/mouthpiece combination works so exceptionally well. The mouthpiece cup is much larger than anything I've play previously - considerably larger than a Bach 1 but feels quite comfortable and the upper register responds remarkably well. When I attended the conference I wasn't looking for new equipment and just stumbled across the distributor midway through the conference. I've had the Frate mouthpiece several weeks now so the 'honeymoon' period is long gone.
