Actually to the question, itself - I watched Buddy stand out front of the Tonight Show Band while they played a chart. I thought he was listening to one of his charts for any musical adjustments that he wanted. Then he sat behind the drums as the band played it again.
Buddy played his @ss off. Found out later, that he wasn't listening to one of his charts, but learning, on the spot, one of the band's charts that he'd play that evening. Remembered it all. Just incredible. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird
