Hi guys, I just cleaned up a long cornet that someone donated to The Salvation Army to see if it would be a good instrument for one of our beginning band students. This cornet plays very nice and the valves are fast and smooth. It was made by WM Frank Co. in Barrington Ill., and is a Biltmore model with a serial number of 111874, which dates it to around 1945 from the information I was able to find.

It’s so nice to see an old horn like this move from someone’s closet into the hands of a youngster who has a desire to learn to play, but not the resources.

I was not familiar with the WM Frank Co., but it appears they built a good quality instrument as they had a government contract to supply brass instruments to the military bands for a number of years.

Do any of you guys have or play any Frank instruments, and if so, what is your opinion of them?

I thank you in advance for sharing.
