Just wondering who still plays these ... I always thought they played great when they first came out , and almost bought one . Seems like there aren't many for sale , so I'm assuming people are holding on to them...

Kanstul did a great job with these Meha copies. I have two - one standard, and one with the "Najoom" lead pipe that Kanstul was promoting as an option.

Terrific versatile trumpets for show playing, lead, jazz and legit. While they are not in the Marketplace, I am willing to sell either or both if someone has interest. I am in the Chicago area, but of course can ship anywhere. Just PM me.

I have the Kanstul Besson Meha Flugelhorn and I really dig it. It has typical intonation issues like most flugels and I may install a trigger at some point, but I prefer it to my Yamaha 631 and a few other flugels I've tested or owned.

I'd like to try a Kanstul meha trumpet at some point.

I just picked one of these up today for $300. Seems like a pretty good horn. A little bright, and a bit of resistance. Somewhat like my Calicchio. Certainly worth what I paid.

I am curious. What are the "typical" intonation problems? I do really want to know.

There is one reason that I practice: to be ready at the downbeat when the final trumpet sounds.

I imagine he is talking about the problem that most flugelhorns are not provided with a means of adjusting the length of the first and third slides to correct intonation. (And no, "I just pull the third slide and leave it out a little" is not even close...) Yes, I realize that most people who use flugelhorn use them in situations where intonation needs not be as precise, but I do. (but, how many times have you been to see a good jazz band and the pitch is pretty locked in until the flugelhorns come out???)
