I'm looking for the sheet music to "A Song For You" as performed by Doc Severinsen. For me, this particular recording is THE recording. Not just for Doc, but across the board. I would love to have the sheet music for it, but haven't had much luck finding it. Any help would be appreciated!

Best option for things like this is just transcribe it or pay a music student in a local university to transcribe it. Lots of songs like this were never in print and only existed within the group performing it. Even if a song from an album did make it to print it was usually always a different version often in a different key that made it more playable to a larger audience. |

Not hard to work out. This was the first 'Doc' tune I figured out when learning to play trumpet. Of course, there's Doc's stylish noodling between phrases etc., but over-all easy to learn / play generally speaking of course. It's a very popular piece by Leon Russell which has been recorded by many artists - including the Carpenters - and is featured in the Carpenters Anthology song book. It is written in the key of F, but once transposed for Bb trumpet, this sort of makes it a too low low register and maybe a tad too high upper register in parts. Try C. (mid staff C) CCBBAAG . . . . GECEGG . . . . . ACAAAGE DCDE (lowAA . . . . ) (I acted out my love in stages -GAGAGAGBC . . . (with ten thousand people watching) GAAGAGABC _________________ I rode in on a horse and can't seem to get out of L.A.
