I'd add a couple more Reeves 40-series pieces to my collection (the rim seems to be perfect for me)...
Then if enough remained, probably a nicer triple-case than my protec - so Bonna or Torpedo. |

-T | I agree with this- equipment races are great, but just increasing skills, becoming more efficient and learning from real master teacher/players will make you more apt to get some use out of all that crap. Just look at all the stuff for sale here in the market place. And when a guy like Trent makes a statement like he did, a lot of us ought to stand up and take notice. (And he, BTW, sells a lot of the stuff some you would spend your money on...) Good luck! |

FYI I am taking a trumpet lesson tomorrow so I cannot stress the importance of staying inspired via seeking out instructors and motivation in any way possible.

Fortunately I've always managed to pay for whatever accessories are needed to stay in the game. In this respect, I consider myself up to date.
So if the thousand dollars had to be spent on trumpet stuff, I would treat myself to the luxury of having my Los Angeles Olds Ambassador fully restored. Just because.

I've got one of a few options I'd go for:
1.) Mouthpiece safari - I'd find three specific mouthpieces - one for lead work, one for classical, and one for my Eb/D trumpet, have them all cut for sleeves, and get enough sleeves to dial in anything.
2.) I'd have a horn overhauled - not sure which one.
3.) Lessons - I have a couple of people in mind I'd like to study with. _________________ Patrick Gleason

I am 55 years old. I am a community band player, whether concert band, jazz band, or small ensemble: classical, Dixieland, or jazz. I have my favourite trumpet. I have gone on mouthpiece safari and have my favourite mouthpieces for what I play. I now have teeth issues and practice as much as I can to maintain my bare minimum of competency for concert band parts. I have cases, mutes, places to play, a Queenie flugel that has great tone and intonation, etc. Actually, if I was told to spend $1K on trumpet related stuff, I would go to either the director where I went to high school (who was a classmate of mine way back when) or college (the brass professor was a classmate of mine in undergrad) and ask what the students need, and donate it. _________________ King Super 20 Trumpet; Sov 921 Cornet

A killer suspension for my motorcycle!
What?
I use my bike to transport me and my gear to the gig.
Money well spent!
