Hello friends! It's been a while since I posted. I have the opportunity to audition for a brass band, and they are asking for a solo "in the standard repertoire" for flugel. I did some googling, but mainly came across jazz flugel solos, which while fun to listen to, wasn't really what I was looking for. Can anyone recommend a solo or two for me to check out? I'd prefer a lyrical one, as that's more to my strength, but if there's a good technical one out there I'll look at that too.

Thanks all!

The slow movement from Himes' Flugelhorn solo piece (for brass band) might be a good choice.

There's a good arrangement of a brass band standard, "Mull of the Cool Bens". John Golland's "Concerto for Flugelhorn" is a bit more obscure, but good.
Franz von Suppé's "Des Hirten Morgenlied" isn't nearly as well known as it possibly should be. Ferro's "Black White", Hagen's "Vocalise", Hanmer's "Arioso and Caprice", Heath's "Reflections", Peaslee's "Nightsongs", Ridout's "Concertino", Sorah's "Berceuse", Turrin's "In Memoriam", Weignein's "Rhapsody" - good grief, there's a bunch of decent stuff out there if you just look.
