Sad to hear. Not only a member of that titanic CSO brass section, but a huge force in the shaping of ICSOM. All who are able to make a living in the US playing orchestral music owe him a debt of gratitude. |

I practiced union-side labor law for 30 years and briefly met Mr. Nashan at a gathering some years back through a Chicago lawyer I knew. Nice man and dedicated advocate for workers' rights. At the time I didn't realize he had played in the CSO and was one of the guys pictured in Farkas' book whose embouchure I use to look at when I studied trumpet as an undergrad. (wasn't his slightly off center?)
OJ, thanks for the link to the ICSOM video. I hope the young musicians can appreciate what the old guys went through to get todays' contracts. RIP Mr. Nashan. |

I studied with Rudy both in high school and again during during my MM. He was a great teacher and inspiring human being. Very sad to hear of his passing. He was and always will be an inspiration. _________________ www.milanomusic.com |

Thought of you when I saw this Josh. Sorry the loss of your teacher and mentor.
Hope you’re well! |
