Since my Conn 77 B trumpet is in the repair shop. I decided to buy a Jupiter 600 M trumpet. The bell needs to be repaired and it came with a 7 C mouthpiece. Did give it a good bath. But most of the slides are still stuck. Another bath for it tomorrow.

Any suggestions on a mouthpiece for this trumpet, other than a 7 c?

A $300 Monette wouldn't make that Jupiter sound like your Conn, just use whatever you normally use...

Ferree's Tools sells an oil/solvent called "Corrosion Cracker" that might help with those slides. I'm considering ordering some myself.

Bach 5b and 5c are pretty nice. But mouthpieces are fairly personal

These horns are a great student instrument. So just use what ever you normally use... there is no reason to change mouthpiece.

Cheers

Thanks for your insights. I have been selling the 7 C trumpets that come with many of student trumpets and buying generally a 3 C trumpet mouthpiece. Don't like to buy a mouthpiece that costs more than the trumpet.

Haven't played it much. But it does sound great with my 3 c. In the shop to unstuck 3rd slide and fix crushed bell. I am thinking about selling this trumpet. Would the resale value be lower due to bell was repaired? Does have a few minor dents and scratches. Unable to show photos since it still in the shop.

The trumpet is back from the shop. Tech did an excellent job on the bell repair. Slides work well. Sounds great. Placed it for sale on ebay.
