So, a few years ago I came across a trumpet that a guy found in the attic of his historic house. I traded him a guitar effects pedal for it and didn't think twice about it. I got it home and realized it had some really nice engravings along the bell, one being a banner with the word "Victory" in it. I was impressed that all the valves and slides work well and it had a great tone. I later became curious of it's origins and started digging around the vastness of the internet. I came across Hornucopia and saw some similar but not exactly the same and contacted a local horn shop associated with University of North Texas, which at one point was the #1 Jazz school in America. The gentleman said by looking at the pictures that it very well could be a Ditson. I am looking to sell it now. It's posted at

Let me know what you think.

Looks more like a cornet.

I thought so too, but it's quite a bit skinnier than a cornet. With horns this old it's even hard to tell with the mouthpieces because there wasn't a standard size until around 1950. The mouthpiece is bigger than a cornet, but smaller and shorter than a trumpet. There's no serial number on it anywhere. Other than the bell engravings, the only other printed thing on it is a "1, 2, 3" on the base of the valves.

It's almost certainly a cornet with that wrap, and from that era.

Do you think it's worth anything?
