| Hi All -- I spent three hours yesterday at Austin Custom Brass. I played new Adams and used newer-model Schilkes, and professionally restored Martin Committee and Olds Recording. Great horns, all of them. Then Trent and Josh put a Jupiter XO 1602 LTR in the room for me to try. This horn was not even on my radar when I walked in, but it's the one I ended up buying. Fantastic horn--beautifully made, huge sound, plays like dream, comes with a set of optional tweaks in the hard-shell case. I got a great deal, and Trent, Josh, and Ian, as always, treated me like I'm the only customer on the planet! I doubt that most pro and semi-pro players think Jupiter right off the bat when looking for a horn. They should! |

+1. I play-tested a similar model (it had a ML bore) a few years back, and it was a really fine instrument. Nice sound, very quick response, great intonation, easy to play—a hidden gem. Congrats on your new trumpet!

| Jupiter has come a long way since the 90s. I remember growing up in high school when they were the new joke on the block. Really fine value horns. I had an Ingram model for a while that was great, but I couldn't get used to the bore. |

I think this newest model would be a great option for people like yourself (and honestly that's how I felt about the Ingram as well).

| Interestingly, I played the Jupiter Ingram at Trent's shop the day I bought the 1602 LTR, and I had the same reaction. Really nice horn, but it didn't work for me the way the 1602 LTR. The Ingram is certainly a great horn that works for lots of players. But I agree with Trent, that if the Ingram doesn't work for you, the 1602 LTR might be just the ticket for you. |

I played a Jupiter 1602 and a Bach Strad side by side one day and came away with these two basic impressions:
1.) The Bach played and slotted a bit better
2.) The Jupiter sounded better
To be fair, the Bach barely played better than the Jupiter, and I was a bit surprised by that, but I suspect that any "deficiencies" the Jupiter may have had could be rectified with some time in the practice room, or at most, getting a mouthpiece cut for sleeves, and then dial it in that way.
Overall, I agree - Jupiter makes some very well made, great sounding trumpets. My main axe for the last couple of years has been a Jupiter XO 1600i Roger Ingram model in lacquer, and it has been a fantastic horn for the bulk of the gigging I do. (Trent hooked me up with the 1600i - I highly recommend ACB to anyone in the market for a horn.)

| I'm a beginner player with a Jupiter. Tried lots of trumpets before (Reynolds, Getzen, Yamaha, Bach, Schilke, etc.), but wasn't satisfied, as I always found something that wasn't up to my liking. Around 2003 there was a big open house at Long and McQuade (was MusicStop) in Halifax, Nova Scotia and I tried the Jupiter after speaking to the rep. He gave me the opportunity to (finally) order a trumpet with my own choice of specs. I got the rose brass leadpipe and yellow brass 5" bell, 0.462 bore, all silver plated. Valves still in great condition - no sticking (I use BiNak Pro oil) - and body still has a perfect finish. So pleased with it. Glad to see others liking them as much as I have! |
