I'm curious about particular items on the schedule that people most want to see this year. I'm about 200 miles away and would like to attend the entire conference, but I have performance commitments in the middle of it, so will have to probably just go for a day or two at most, or set up subs.
Wondering what's on your favorite list (if you have one)? _________________ "Music is like candy, you throw the (w)rappers away." |

I find that hard to answer, as I often find unexpected highlights. I've always gained insight to teaching approaches, playing approaches and been inspired by players that I didn't expect.
Like last year, the highlight for me was the recital by the students of David Hickman.. yes, I anticipated wonderful playing but was amazed well beyond expectations... not only impressed but motivated. There were a number of marvelous events, but this one stood out for me.
A little impomptu discussion with Trent Austin over a Flugelhorn, gave me a ton of info to reinforce technique in my own playing.. can't plan on that stuff.

Wednesday, May 30, 9am - 10:30am, Daniel Cloud Room at the Doubletree, I believe.
The large trumpet ensemble stacks up to be great.
Students of Marie from three major schools of music spanning 50 years
