Since I've read the comments of Pat and Karl Sievers about Bach trumpets, I was wondering if most Adam students (especially those on the TH) play Bach trumpets? |

The answer is generally yes. We find that Bach trumpets have the kind of sound and playing characteristics we seek. However, this is certainly not a rule. Depending on the kind of playing to be done, other kinds of trumpets can work well. I know a number of Adam students who play on Conn Vintage Ones and Callichios, for example. |

That varies much more widely among Adam students, although I myself do in fact play a 3C. In general, it seems that Mr. Adam's students tend to play Bach mouthpieces (especially 7C, 3C, or 1C) or Reeves pieces for the commercial/lead player types. However, this is far from universal. |

In the 70's Purviance pieces were used by some of Mr. Adam's students. The 5*3 for example. Dom Spera got an amazing sound from his Bach 5C on a LB Bach 25/25. In a lesson sometimes you'd hear Gozzo out the bell. Very inspiring, sometimes frustrating!
When I practice the Developed Scales I still hear his sound and try to match it. |
