Does anybody know what Shilke mouthpiece would be a comparible size to the Bach 3c? |

Hmmm... The 14 line is a popular step-up choice from a 3C, but I wouldn't quite use it as a replacement. To me, the 14B feels a bit bigger and a bit shallower than my 3C. Heaven only knows how it compares to your 3C, of course.
FWIW, Jim Donaldson has a chart showing the 13C4 most closely matches the 3C:

My advice would be to get a 13C4, 14B, and 14 from a store that will let you try them all to see which fits you best.

You might want to check out the Kanstul Mouthpiece Comparator at:
http://kanstul.net/mpcJN/Compare/CompareIE.HTM
Of course, the real poblem is Bach's notorious inconsistency in mouthpiece size. The size of your 3C will be different from some other 3C's, and could be different from the specs in the official Bach catalogue, and from the piece shown in the Kanstul page. |

Check out this site's chart. I find it to be far more accurate and consistent than most others.

Some comparison charts list the 13C4 as similar to a 3C, but I beg to differ, at least from my experience.
I have played both and do not think there is much comparable, unless only the most general diameter considerations are involved.
When compared to the 3C, the 13C4 has a flatter rim, a deeper, more funnel shaped cup, and perhaps due to the rim, feels like a smaller diameter. It produces a different tone quality, which for me at least, is less bright, having less volume, and less resonant.
I would think either a 14 or 14B would be a closer matchup... |

My comparison, based on the Kanstul comparator, is a Schilke 15B. The Schilke catalog also suggests a 15B as a 3C alternative.
It is interesting to go through the comparator comparing Bach (both old and new) with Schilke. There are quite a few Schilke pieces that appear identical in cup and rim profile to a Bach mouthpiece. From memory, it seems that the Schilke 11c2 is a copy of the old 7C, then the new 7C a copy of the Schilke 11. In the words of Darth Vader "Now I am the master!"

I found that the Schilke 14 was a better match to the 3C feel. The 15 is also close. I tried the 13c4 and it was not even in the ball park of being right. |

I've looked at the 14 series and there is a 14 and a 14B (and a 14C2). What was is the cup size of the 14 and the back bore of 14B (letters aren't listed to indicate this. Does this mean they have the standard ones?
