Could someone please inform me on what was Bill Adam's warm up routine and was it applied to all of his students?
Also, is there anything published in this regard that one can order or share?
Thanks,
Liad |

Hi, Liad!
Mr. Adam never really had a single routine that everyone did. THAT'S A MYTH. Therefore, he never published anything (to this point). Virtually everything he used was stuff that is readily available and widely used by most of us; stuff from Arban, Clarke, Schlossberg, etc.
There are a number of places on the web where you can find versions of "The Adam Routine". Realize that these sites aren't endorsed by Mr. Adam. The routines presented there are sort of "lowest common denominator" versions of the routines he used with many of his students-ALTHOUGH THE ROUTINE HE/WE USED VARIED FROM ERA TO ERA AND PERSON TO PERSON.
Also, VERY IMPORTANT! Mr. Adam made a point in several of my early lessons to say that this was NOT a warm-up. It was something you practiced every day to improve your trumpet playing. It doesn't take a whole lot to warm-up. After that you are practicing (whether you know it or not).
At the beginning of every lesson he had me play a few notes on the leadpipe, 10 or 12 long tones, and 10 or 12 different keys of Clarke #1. I always assumed that that much was to be my warm-up and have used that ever since.
We really didn't talk about it much. |

Interesting that the main thing that drove me to study under Mr. Adam (and the Midwest, for that matter) was to develop the ability to play WITHOUT warming up. _________________ "And this is life: that you know the Son, and the One who sent Him." The rest is just details |
