My trumpet teacher is going to start me on the Hummel Concerto. Anything I should pay particular attention to?

Having a couple good recordings is always a good place to start. Check out Andre's for a really good one. Wynton plays it decently too. As far as things to watch out for, there isn't much. It's pretty straight forward. Just play very lightly and work on the trills. On Bb trumpet, some of the trills are pretty difficult. Good luck!

There are many good recordings of this (mostly in Eb, even though the original key was E). The Canadian Brass Series has a nice recording that you can play along with for practice. Also if your chops are strong, Clyde Hunt has a couple of decent cadenzas that are different from the overplayed version that usually comes with the piece.
