I always loved the Hummel intro ... just hilarious.

A good friend of mine and player of the Marine Band in San Diego says that it was rumored to be Al Hirt in an out-take. I don't think this was a tape sent to the CSO as some people know it as.

I'll probably be making similar mistakes as on this website in the future so I shouldn't laugh too hard!!!

This is great.
My favorite among these would be the Mahler 7 excerpt where they're completely dying on that high D of the fanfare at the beginning of the finale.
This is such a glorious and extroverted passage... wonderfully disastrous.
I wonder how they handled those horrifically exhausting last minutes of the symphony.

I've heard a few of these sound clips earlier. They have been floating aorund for some years. I guess a few is due to nervousness, the player can play it but goofed. (like Mozart's Requiem perhaps?)

On other clips you can hear that the player are not ready at all for the task. (like the piccolo part in Pictures)

Btw, have a look at other things on Andy's website:

I have seen some trumpets Andy has fixed. Amzing - you think they are brand new (even if they are 50 years old).

I've got a worse recording of that trombone solo in the Mozart - it's hilarious. My school recorded it, and got a young student to play the solo - they had brought in a professional alto trombone player, and just watching his face almost made me start laughing.

The kid got a bigger round of applause than any of the vocal soloists did.
