I think it means Moonlight.

calre comes from the latin word clara which means famous or clear, de lune come from the latin word luna, meaning the moon. So something like a famous moon or clear as the moon.

Good thinking, but it's still moonlight. True, the word "clair" literally translates to "clear", but any French-English dictionary will tell you that other uses include "bright" and "light".
