MAn, that is cool. I like how you seperate different chapters. As 5&6 graders first starting the trumpet and looking at Arbans it can be very intimidating. Thanks. _________________

I tried to download the tongueing sections of the Arbans. The Adobe reader came up with a warning that said that the file was damaged and could not be repaired. _________________

Man--I think some of my students just got it for Christmas, too!! Oh well. Having your music bag tear out from stuffing Arban in it is a rite of passage. |

Bigbrowncow.
YOU RULE !!!
I got the tongue pages error also. It also happened with scales and the slurs section.
You still rock for doing this.

Don't worry to those that recently bought the Fischer edition. This is not the same edition but a shorter one by someone else. The characteristic studies were shortened among other edits.
It's still a nice thing to have.
Someone several years ago was posting a full Arban but my PC crashed. Good riddance Win98.
I have an old Arban edition someone gave me that is 3 whole books. Just as the St. Jacome is now one book but my first one was either 2 or 3 books.

I am comparing some things from the download and my beat up copy...interesting changes made in the Characteristic studies. In looking at #7, his original stops before the first key change on the D.S., and there is no transitional material from the descending c scale to Ab major...I wonder when that was added? No Fine is noted; but a fermata is used. Interesting change in notation habits. Did Goldman or Smith make their changes in consultation with Arban or just use musical judgement?
Also...a quick look at Carnival of Venice in comparison to what's in Goldman/Smith and the French Arban book looks quite different. I didn't increase size enough to do a note by note comparison...simply looking at apparent length. On closer examination...where is the third variation? Did that come along after these had been printed? Seems it must have.
I am downloading the rest of it in full. To the dismay of one of my students who just got it for Christmas...Oh well. She can trade it for a metronome. |

I agree the comparison is interesting. I wouldn't take this version as a definitive one, although it is interesting for us in the UK as my Boosey & Hawkes edition doesn't include the duets

Hi Steve, cheers for this! I've got the B&H edition too, so it's great to finally get my hands on the missing parts. |

Aah.. Much is now revealed. I have the Carl Fischer edition. I'll keep the downloaded copy for kids who can't afford the big one. |

The songs in the art of phrasing are completely different than the modern version, as are the duets. These should be fun to play. |
