Just curious. In raw brass. That would be the 61X Monette C Trumpet.

The 61 X is no longer in production. It has been removed from the line. The Monette internet site is woefully out of date, so it doesn't reflect the current available models. They are still making the STC trumpet, the LT line, the 993 as well as the heavier horns. The "classic" line has been completely removed from production. *or so I am told*.

Thanks for the update. Do you know prices for the 993's or the LT's?

The last I heard, the 993 was around $7K in raw brass, and the LTs were around $6K. Those prices are very "ballpark" as I haven't bought a horn since 2002. A good guage is the prices of the best horns on Michael Thompson's web site. The best guage is of course a call to Portland.....

HTH,

Is it up on the net anywhere? Just picked up a 993 Bb, and I kinda like the way they play a lot.

I think it would need to have work done on it by Dave himself! Those tuneups at the factory are the best you know!

They will still make the classics, they will run you 7,600 total price with a double case and gold plate, if you prefer the raw brass and dont need a case it will run you around 5,700. Price includes 2 Prana mouthpieces.

OK, here is the scoop direct from the Monette shop as of about 10 minutes ago.

The Classic Horns (meaning the 149XL and the 61 X trumpets) are no longer a part of the price list. This means they are no longer a part of the standard instruments available for sale. However, as I was told, nothing is absolute. If you were really interested in a "Classic" instrument, likely you would be steered toward the STC series instruments, which are still in production. However, you might be able to talk Dave into making a "Classic" horn, on a case by case basis. Also, they will any of a number of prior and current models in a Prana horn, so that is another option.

But, as a standard instrument in the everyday catalogue, the "classic" models have been "semi-retired".

Point understood dr-trumpet, i think we all know that the bottom line is dave will build you just abut whatever your heart desires(unless of course it is a 4 valve picc) , i just got off the phone with Tom about 30 seconds ago we are trying to get my mouthpiece situation straightened out before i take delivery of my 993, everytime i talk to them i am just reminded how good of people they are to do business with.

I think you are absolutely right about everything above. Might add replacements of first generation Pranas into the list of products that he won't build (but I digress). I hope you like your 993 as much as I like mine.
