Hi folks
I can't believe it but I just bought another soprano cornet. A couple of months back I bought a Yamaha 6610 in lacquer off ebay. It was really cheap, a bargain - in excellent nick but for a dent in the 2nd slide. I reckoned I'd get another slide but it blows great anyway. So £250 and I bought it (although it felt like I stole it!!).
Today I got a brand new Sterling Sop for £255 (silver with gold highlights), inc postage. Holy cow if I wanted to plate an instrument it would cost that, let alone buy a new one.
I hope there are no bargains for a while  .
BTW. What do you do with 2 sops??

The good news, if you can call it that, is that the Yamaha 6610 is an Eb TRUMPET, not a cornet  So now your problem goes away, you don't have two sopranos, just one. Enjoy, glad I could help.

The 6610 I have is a YCR-6610. That is an Eb soprano cornet. Now if it was a YTR-6610 That would be a trumpet. So the facts are the same. I have 2 sops.

Both of my Sops are old and well worn, yep I have 2 also!. You could always give me the Yamaha. I could cope with owning 3 Sops

The 6610 I have is a YCR-6610. That is an Eb soprano cornet. Now if it was a YTR-6610 That would be a trumpet. So the facts are the same. I have 2 sops.

Whoops...my bad:oops: I didn't even know that yammie made a YCR6610...hadn't seen it anywhere

That's some going to wear out 2 sops!!!! I'm 42 now and I doubt I'd wear out the Yam by the time I'm finished and the Sterling will probably hardly be run in.

Both Sops were pretty well worn before I got them. Sop #1 is a 1948 Boosey and Hawkes "Regent", It mostly sits on the shelf and looks pretty. Sop#2 Is a 1975 "Imperial". It is actually in pretty good shape. I rarely play Sop these days, but I cant resist when a good deal comes up. There is no such thing as having too many Cornets!!!

I hear you about the can't resist a good deal thing I find I just can't let things go by sometimes because they seem insanely cheap - thankfully though that isn't too often.
