Hi Kurt,

Those books are out of print at the moment....and that will change, we hope, in the near future. Talk to Dave S. about where you might find those books.

BASIC BOOK REQUIREMENTS FOR THE STUDY OF THE PIVOT SYSTEM: by Doc

The Encyclopedia of the Pivot System(Colin) for: Complete Playing Mechanics
The Manual of The Pivot System (Presser) for: Embouchure, Tongue, Breathing Drills.
Selection of Concone Studies (Presser) 8va higher for: Control, Transposition, etc.
Brandt Studies (MCA) "The finest of Fanfarish Trumpet books(tonguing)
Blazaevich Sequences (Difficult "legit" Reading patterns)
Arbans Complete Method(Fischer) Supplementary Material Only

Initial Assignments: Study the 35 basic points of The Pivot System from The Encyclopedia before commencing your daily blowing chores; The Pivot stabilizer(exactly as presented by your instructor); The Pivot Track Routine(varying dynamics); Warmup #57 as far into the high register as possible; Form Studies(all 12 articulations in all major keys); Brandt Study number 10 (for "core of each sound - no speed here!); Concone Study 14 (as is for cantabile performance); Arbans Drill 13, pg. 297 (Trpt) slurred and staccato as rapidly as possible; and Concone Drills 1 and 2 (all 8va to check high register control).

The Pivot System Manual is out of print and can be ordered as a "special edition"...for around $25. My new web site http://www.airstreamdynamics.com will be up and running this week(May 22-24) and will have availability for ALL Pivot System books, with the new Beginner's Manual Pending from and awaiting Rich Willey's generous publishing expertise.

All of this "recommended" material by Doc is from an archive i recently discovered by a lesson for Tom Neuman in 1972 and i believe is valid to this day!
Thanks,
Dave S.
