Can anyone tell me anything about these mouthpieces? One of my freshmen has a 1 1/2 C. I played it and it has a really REALLY nice sound to it. Any info would be helpful.

They're not made anymore, but the Black from Black Hill is Greg Black, who does still make mouthpieces. You can find more info here: http://www.gregblackmouthpieces.com/ |

Greg learned how to make mpcs at the old Giardinelli, then struck out on his own to no longer need to "compromise quality." He holds everything to a tolerance of +- .0002", like a tool and die maker.
How's the intonation on that mpc? It might've been made before he made this step, but I'll put his stock up against any Monette as far as "constant pitch centers." That was in effect after his partner abandoned him but he still used the Black ^ Hill name, not sure exactly when but by '91. Nice rim too, huh??
If you order anything check to make sure it's in stock first. Otherwise he's notorious for taking forever. And if you want the good 'ol Giardinelli stuff, check out his NY series; high performance, of course.
