|
|
I had no clue where to put this topic, so I figured this was a good enough place.
I recently developed laryngitis. Yay. Today, the jazz group I am in has a 3 hour rehearsal. So, the question is whether or not I should go.
The best medicine, so to say, for laryngitis is rest of the larynx, ie not talking. Would trumpet playing aggravate my larynx's problem?
Thanks for the advice. _________________ "There are no wrong notes, only better ones."

No...Had it, done it, not a problem. I guess the larynx isn't needed for trumpet playing. _________________ Praise him with the sound of the trumpet! Ps. 150:3

| I found that my tone gets much worse in that condition, as not only the larynx, but also the surrounding areas seem to be affected. You will also manage to spray your colleagues with virus-loaded mist during the entire 3-hour rehearsal. |

I actually think I have. It was not nice, but I kept on playing anyway, too stingy to take sick-leave!
Be careful if playing with a cold, though. My dad was a hornplayer in the royal phil here in Sweden, and his teacher/solohornist played while having a severe cold and got deaf on one ear!
A bit off topic, i know, sorry! _________________ Bach NY ML 1943 vintage Bb

| Quite on-topic, I believe. It is better to lay it off and at most do a little mouthpiece buzzing, taking care not to get the mucus into your inner ear. |
