Blackburn piccolo – not yet certain which one, probably the C/Bb.
Either that or a natural trumpet, just trying to work out which one of those to get.
Need money first though.
Oh well, it’s good to dream!! _________________ If we are not making music, what is the point?

Martin Committee. Yes, the sweet vintages... but only if I win Lotto. All I need is a dollar and a dream... (or $1400 and an eBay account).

A piccolo trumpet... Yamaha 6810S, or a Kanstul 920 Custom. I can't afford a Schilke P54. _________________ J. Fowler

Currently it's the Kanstul ZKT1600WB (Wayne Bergeron) model ....
I'm looking at others but of the horns I've played .... that will be my
next horn.

Honestly I am very happy with my current equipment. The only horn I would like to have just as a comparison would be a:
Bach C Stradivarius Large Bore with a Heavy (229H) bell or even a Gold Brass Heavy Bell (229GH) in lacquer with a reverse leadpipe. I play on a heavy 37 bell (37H) ML Strad and absolutely love it. I even sold my Xeno 8335G since I didn't play it anymore.
I've dreamed of owning a Monette 149XL but I don't think the extra $4000-$5000 will be justification for just a sort of better playing horn. It should play itself and make money on its own for that price!!
I also may want to try one of the new Yamaha Flugelhorns that come standard with the Gold Brass bell whether it is silver or lacquer .... and of course the future Malone Yamaha's will definitely be on my "to play" list!! _________________ Bb - Yamaha Xeno 8335RGS

Out of necessity my next horn will be a flugel (probably Getzen eterna). But if I could by anything it would a gold plated schilke piccolo or if money were no object a gold plated Lechner rotary valve piccolo.
I'd still love to try Monette though - would be very interesting to see if they play like they look. |

Next in line: flugel. Dunno which though. I have to work out my budget.
After that: legit-oriented Bb. Probably a Xeno or B&S Challenger.
Yet after that: Piccolo. I thinking either Schilke P5-4 or Stomvi Elite.
I'd like an Eclipse though. Love those horns.

Schilke E3L. I need an Eeefer.
Also, I'm already spoiled with a Blackburn picc, a Chicago Monette C trumpet, but my b-flat is a Yamaha, and I really want a new one. I'm hoping either for a Blackburn or a Chicago Monette. We'll see what happens!

God this is such a hard question to answer... I'd have to say if I could have any horn right now it would be a Lawler TL7. I really love fat, bright lead trumpets. After that it's tough to decide... I am sure it will depend mostly on what type of playing I am doing at that point. Here is a short list of possibilities though...
Eclipse Equinox Bb Trumpet
Callet "Symphonique" C Trumpet (a Jazz by another name)
Wedgwood Bb Cornet
-or-
Wild Thing Short Cornet
Yamaha D/Eb Trumpet
Blackburn A/Bb Piccolo Trumpet
Courtois "Conservatoire 222" Flugelhorn
So many more... but I'll let my "wish list" stop there... |
