I don't know about you, but I almost never play, in live performances, my top notes. I always use some extra gas if I need it. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

Just about every healthy adult can generate enough air pressure to play an expansive range, and loudly. That is rarely an issue. |

Looking at this from a slightly different angle than the OP started with - whether or not they're interested in playing lead in a Chase cover group, I think virtually everyone who plays for a living would like to have the ability to play whatever notes they end up getting asked for consistently and musically, and this frequently includes high notes for many people. |

Nope, you're not. I know at least one person who really doesn't want to play high. She loves to play 3rd/ 4rd trumpet.
In my community band lots of people just want to play and have some fun. Like kids and elderly people. They don't give a damn about high notes.
Playing high is just something for the ambitious players. |

I had exactly the same experience. I remember asking a woman. once, if she didn't want to play higher up in the section. She was an experienced and reliable player. She said "no". That she just wanted to enjoy playing but with a minimal commitment to time and stress.
Of course, if you wanted to quibble, I guess it could be over what you consider a "real trumpet player". _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird
