Hi Bill,

I had Wayne Tanabe in the shop last year and he brought some horns with him. The C cornet was amazing. I have absolutely no need for one and still wanted to buy it! Check it out if you re seriously in the market!

Are you referring to the Yamaha C Cornet - link posted earlier? That is supposed to be an amazing crossover horn with trumpet-like features including a trumpet mouthpiece receiver.
But it's just under $4000, and special order. No impulse buy, for sure.

Have you tried the Schilke with metal valve guides?...I can get A LOT more out of the horn this way...you might be able to get more of what you like in the Schilke at higher dynamics with 2 or 3 metal guides...

Hi Rob,
Good call, I believe you; it might be just what it needs to project a bit easier in a large orchestra.
But to answer you question,
No, as far as I can remember, I've never tried a Schilke cornet with brass guides.

Does anyone know where I could find a Bach C Cornet 229 mentioned above?

Hello all,
Charlie Butler does make a great C cornet. I had a chance to play one after I had bought a Schilke. Both play/ed well. In comparison to my XA1, the A2C plays a little brighter still warmer than a trumpet. Fit and finish is normal Schilke quality.
