Has anyone here tried an aftermarket leadpipe on a Carolbrass flugel?
Mine plays fine now that I switched to Yamaha synthetic valve oil, but the intonation is still a little wonky and I have a pretty important gig in February.

Could you be a bit more specific about the wonkiness? _________________ veery715

| My Curry mouthpiece doesn't really fit either leadpipe it came with. The staff A and Ab are way sharp and several other notes are off enough to be distracting. I've played the horn for well over a year trying to just acclimate and cure the problems myself, but there's no noticeable change. The low C/C# and F#/G are also sharp, but I can control them with the trigger. |

If you have a taper mismatch you will get wonky intonation. Have you talked to Mark Curry about it?
You might try pulling the first and 2nd valve slides a bit to drop the intonation of pitches which use those, and push the tuning bit in a little, and ease your blow some thinking "warm air." Also try tuning using the open second line G instead of the C above it. _________________ veery715
