So, I looked around my house for stuff I could take to the pawn shop 'cause I needed some bucks. I took some of my Grandma's old necklaces and watches, a flight simulator game for the computer, and my Cecelio Pocket Trumpet.

I used the horn mainly for doing my warmup in my truck while driving to rehearsal. It was kind of a pain because the valves would stick if I didn't push them straight down. The valves turned black shortly after I bought the horn and I had to oil them constantly. When I used my Callet mthpce in the horn, I had to wrap aluminum tape around the shank to keep the mthpce from bottoming out in the receiver.

I filed the end off of an old Bach mthpce that I included with the horn so it would fit.

I originally paid $99. for the horn from eBay. The pawnbroker looked in his computer and didn't find it listed, so he took it to some management guy, and when he came back he gave me $75.00 for it! Man, I took the money and ran! I would have taken $25 for it...

He wan't interested in any of my other stuff... Am I lucky or what?

p.s. I went to Pizza Hut on the way home and stuffed myself at the buffet...

How 'bout I send you this here 'ole Bestler Chinese Trumpet?

You take it to your pawn guy, and if he'll give you about the same deal, we'll split the take.

I could get top dollar for it only if it was designed by French Engineer.

Let's keep this in perspective . . . you bought it for $99, so you "rented" a pocket trumpet for $24 for some period of time. The pawn shop may hold it for a while, but I would guess they will put $150 on it and eventually they may get that much from some sucker, so this is all a food chain, I guess. If not, it is one of their [few] losses and they will make it up swindling somebody else.

As they used to say on TV, "Hey, hey, let's be careful out there!"

They are hoping you change your mind and buy it from them for $150.

The cheap horns like that aren't even worth that much in my oppion, really just the metal valve and that is about it.

Congrats. You got a great deal. But, uh . . . what did your Grandma say about her missing necklaces and watches?

[quote] what did your Grandma say about her missing necklaces and watches?[quote]

Oh, She's long gone, went to Heaven 32 years ago... She actually died 33 years ago, but it took a year for me to 'pray her' into Heaven....
