Last night I was at a rehearsal and slammed my WT into the edge of the metal music stand. When I looked down at the bell, it was pealed back where it had hit the stand, the bell bead was broken and the rim was badly torn.

Somehow, the first valve casing had been sliced off of the valve block and fell away into my hand. The top cap threads had torn off so just the flat part stayed around the valve stem.

Zig Kanstul happened to be there, so I had him look it over to see if it could be fixed. He told me to get a new trumpet. I felt awful. That was the best trumpet I've ever played.

I was glad that I still have my Benge and decided to quickly go home and retrieve it, so I could play the concert.

Then I woke up.

What a nightmare!

Brian

Some things are best not joked about..... just imagine what people would say if it really happened next week......You had better buy a backup......

I actually had this dream last night, no joke. How depressing it was.

I have a good back up, but I want to do a project or two with Zig while he still is around.

Option 1: A Bb trumpet with the 1410 bell. .464" bore?

Option 2: Also a Bb trumpet, but I'll keep this one to myself...

Terrible dream! My heart was breaking for you while I was reading it. Then I realized it was another episode of 'Dallas' and nobody shot JR. Glad your horn is good. Best of luck on your project.

Part of me wants to complete the "Byron Horn" that I started planning after I was asked to help Mr. Autrey put together a product line and organize it into a business. I hate not finishing a project.

It was going to be a 5X+ with a semi-lightweight bell. I found out that Zig has developed a replica valve block of the original long-stroke Benge MLP valves. That would be fun to do, just because... But, maybe, I will use the #3 Benge bell or the 1410 Convertible bell instead. Or, I could just use the Signature short-stroke valves and have a less quirky result. Or,...

Then again, I had this new experience, lately, and I've been thinking...

Anyway, look to the sunny side - it was just a dream. Shofar, shogood.

The only way to prevent dreams like that are to not go to sleep. Ever!

A nightmare like that would give me a heart attack in my sleep.

Last night I dreamed I was locked in a junior suite at the Holiday Inn in North Platte, Nebraska with Naomi, Wynona and Ashley Judd. And there was no room service.

When I read the title I thought for a minute we really had something going . . . . but I see that the nightmare is mine and continues . . . . I guess I will go play my Tame Thing.

If I had three women in my room pounding on the door to get out, I don't think I would admit it . . . . . maybe your "Wild Thing" wasn't in tune . . . . .

I've had the dream before that I had a bell that was like aluminum foil. It was really sad. Then I woke up.

I wish I was dreaming that one time I dropped my horn. (Lucky it just bent the rim a little and nothing more.)

I knew it was a dream when you said Zig just "happened" to be at the rehearsal.

Yeah, it was kinda weird. The rehearsal "hall" was actually something like the chemistry lab rooms at my old High School, but with brass instrument tables like at the Kanstul factory where the experiment tables should have been. We were sitting in chairs in the "lecture" area of the room. The rest of the players seemed like High School age students and I was an old guy like I am now.

Hey, I announced that it was a nightmare on the subject line! Didn't you guys believe me??
