Just a question: Does a Yamaha Flugel mouthpiece such as the Bobby Shew model fit in an American flugel like the Conn V1 at all?
I wonder if the Yamaha shank would be appropiate there or if there will be intonation issues.

MacMichael,
I play a Conn Vintage One with a Yamaha Bobby Shew mouthpiece. Here's a video I just posted.

Nice one, I liked it, thanks for posting it!
That seems to be a good match, the CV1, the mpc - and you!

If you can afford it and have the patience, I've seen some really nice Monette flugel mouthpieces go up on auction sites like ebay. The gold and the heavier weight really add to the dark, rich tone. That and they're Monette pieces and the sound that you get from them is impeccably smooth...

I play a Yamaha Bobby Shew flugelhorn mouthpiece. What is its Bach size designation? Is it a generic, or specialized mpc? What are the inherent qualities of this mpc?
