Hi all,

I've got a buddy's 229/25H that had an alignment prior to his purchasing of the instrument. All the valve buttons, top caps and stems are all stamped appropriately and the valves are aligned beautifully.

Who does these alignments with what looks to be rubbery white washer with no spacers for upstroke and OEM looking rubber washers of varying thicknesses on the downstroke? Also, the stems are stamped on the vertical portion of the stem rather than the flat portion if that helps any.

I will try to snap a couple of photos to go with my rotten descriptions later.

thanks!

Joe

Sounds like Bob Reeves' work, that's what I've seen when they come into the shop.

Unfortunately it's not one of his.... I checked the serial number on his data base. He tends to use rubber on his top valve caps and washers that is completely different than any I've seen.

Below is a link to the numbering and valve washer material.

Your link took me to an empty album.

BTW, the materials Bob used has evolved over the years. My first alignment in the early 1980's had Bach-style black rubber bumpers on the top valve caps and white "felts" on the valve stem under the valve cap. My later alignments had a grey-ish "felt" material, both above and below the valve cap (and sometimes under the valve button.) I haven't seen him use black rubber bumpers in a LONG time.
