Hey everyone,
I just want to give a heads up. I have a Bach 43(H) advertised. I recieved an inquiry from a certain Dean Graham. He asked a lot of questions. I sent him answers.
He then sent me an email saying he would buy the horn. I sent him a Paypal payment request form. He sent me the "payment" through "Paypal". I received what looked like an official communication from Paypal.
However, he kept insisting that I first have to send $400 to an "agent", then when I show Paypal that I sent it by Western Union, Paypal would release the full amount(+$450). The communication I received from Paypal even gave me specific instructions.
I was extremely suspicious because I told him twice that it would be cheaper if I just ship it to him for $50-60. Being the case, I contacted Paypal directly. After a few questions, they informed me that it was a fraudulent transaction.
I have received several of these types of offers before and it was easy to identify it as a fraudulent buyer. However, these guys were REALLY good. The "official" communication from "Paypal' seemed very legitimate. They had all the official logos, same fonts. They had all the numbers to call, etc...
Anyway, again...just a heads up to everyone out there. All my transactions on this site, both as a buyer and seller, have been really good and I feel I have made a few friends in the process. Pass this warning around to our community.

If you don't have to go to the Paypal site and log in to perform ANY Paypal action or payment or response to a message, then it is a scam. Report it to Paypal.

I agree with supportlivejazz--report it to paypal.
I recently bought a horn and sent payment for a large amount. Paypal (a real person...) called me up to be sure it was legit before releasing my money. They seem to want to do a good job.

| The guy just contacted me about buying a trumpet too. Poor grammar and asked one or two silly questions in his laundry list of questions. I deleted the email, then did a search and found this topic on TH. |

This guy has now contacted me twice under this name. I suspect that it is the same people/person that we have had for a while who has been studying how to write a better scam letter.
Still not very good at it.

And how, exactly is one "due to been offhore"??? You can talk with an accent I guess you can TYPE with an accent, too.

All true. I guess the good thing is that these kind of scam-attempts are pretty easy to spot, hopefully the as***** will give up, go away and go get a real job. Or at least just go away.
