Anyone ever heard of this trumpet brand?

I've seen a couple come through my repair shop. They were all very low quality.

E.M. Winston is the house brand of Rayburn Music, Boston. Over the years they've been sourced overseas from Amati, Weril and Asia.

I have a E.M. Winston flugel, purchased from WWBW about ten years ago. Believe it or not, it's not a bad playing horn.

I've seen several of these E.M. Winston flugelhorns (made by Weril in Brazil) from that era and they play pretty well. However, I had a devil of a time getting replacement parts. We ended up ordering replacement pistons from DEG for their flugelhorn made by Weril.

I just pulled a Winston flugel "Boston" (made in Brazil) out of a band instrument retail store closet, cleaned it up, and surprisingly it plays very well.
Getting parts I don't have any idea how one would do this. Give it a try if you want to have some fun.

Amati/Cerveny has been bought by the guy who owns Geneva instruments and they make all (most of?) his instruments. He seems to have rebranded the Amati line as EM Winston and these are being sold with that name all over Europe. I am not sure what the connection is with Rayburn in the US. Maybe Amati have licensed the brand? The current Amati stuff looks OK but I have not tried any of it.
