This "Live in Tokyo" concert is so prime Chet, IMO. Not only are his chops on, but his scatting is something I'd love to see transcribed. Also, the rhythm section swings their butts off:

Great video - I've watched it several times - I really appreciate all of the concert footage that has come out the past few years. _________________ Dave Wondra

Chet seemed especially inspired during this concert. He even dressed up in a nice suit, whereas in other footage of that time he looks like he's been sleeping in the clothes he's wearing. I've read in CB interviews that he appreciated quiet and attentive audiences, so maybe that has something to do with it. _________________ Brent |

Also, according to biographers and interviews with his band mates, the Japanese were death on drug use and on trying to sneak them into the country, so he was using Methadone during that trip, which had a more "positive" effect on him. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Here's a book of Chet Baker Scat Transcriptions. But, this solo is not in it.

I think those all came off the Chet Baker Sings and Plays album, but I could be wrong... _________________ Jeff Helgesen
