Anyone here played the "Simply Sinatra" show with the 10-piece band backing singer Steve Lippia?

Just curious about the book, anything to watch out for, etc.

I have done the show several times. The charts are straightforward ala Riddle and Costa tyoe Sinatra arrangements. Steve and Steve(Sigmund Musical Director) are gentlemen and great performers. Enjoy It

How's the range in the lead/split lead book? Blowing in the 2nd book or the 3rd book?

Thanks -- Steve Sigmund is a road buddy of mine from years ago. Looking forward to catching up with him.

There's a little bit of blowing...depending on who's md'ing, they may ask the jazz trumpet guy to do a small group tune or two.

The range in the lead isn't that bad..standard type stuff. There's a couple little solos here and there, and a lot of "Sweets" harmon solos behind the vocals.

It's a really fun gig and Steve sound so much like Sinatra it's scary.

They ususally carry Joe Scannella as the lead player. Joe is a very nice and formidable player.

I've played Steve(s) lead book several times in the 10-piece format. It's quite a fun show. Both Steves (Lippia and Sigmund) are gentlemen and good to work for. Lippia really has the Frank thing down!

The show can be a blow if you're not in shape. The 10-piece book has you playing all the time due to the cut-down instrumentation. Lead book has lots of E's and F's. 2nd book is high D. Not many roadmaps on the charts, no real traps or surprises.

Swing like you usually do and there'll be no problem! Pace yourself on the rehearsal, though.

This is the 10-piece book. I'm pretty sure that everyone except the trombone/MD book is being contracted (relatively) locally. Fortunately, I'm not the lead player of record.

You can hear clips from his show on my website in the "lead trumpet" audio samples.

Steve is world class, and is the real deal!
