MON! everybody.
find below a version of mine, if my mind doesn't fail it should belong to the same great recording above mentioned.

http://www.youtube.com/user/dontoninomon#play/all/uploads-all/1/fBczhIPJvRo

I'm not good in transcribing, and I learnt the solo only by ears. Thanks for posting the score, it's the proof if I did a good job or not.
Thanks again

Thanks Tobias, this is a great solo. Roditi's execution is always so flawless. Great job on the transcription and thanks so much for sharing all of your hard work.

P.S. if anyone wants to hear this solo it can be found HERE in it's entirety.

"Bop Lives" is a great record! Greg Abate has been to my school a handful of times. Do you have the Abate CD (also w/ Roditi) where they do all Horace Silver tunes?

Anyways, your turning out transcriptions like it's your job Tobias! keep up the hard work and thanks so much again for sharing.

Yeah, well, here's another one. Claudio was in town two nights ago. I filmed his solo on 'A Night in Tunisia' with my cell phone and here's the transcription:

I've been looking for more unknown cats to listen to and expand my horizons, so thank you for posting all of this. Gotta start just blowing changes as much as possible to get used to just doing it.

I never thought of Roditi as an unknown cat. Learn something everyday.

Larry

p.s. looking forward to his recital at ITG. I've enjoyed his recorded work for the past 25 years.

Yeah, he's so unknown that he was touring with Dizzy and Arturo over 20 years ago!

But if you ask anyone for top jazz trumpeters, the players other trumpeters emulate, there are the standards. Dizzy, Miles, Maynard, Clifford, Freddie, Chet. Rarely do you ask that question and get responses like Claudio Roditi, Adam Rapa, Nicholas Payton even.

When jazz is the conversation, every experience I seem to have is someone referring to the great dead players of yesterday. It doesn't help that every record store in the country only seems to peddle Chuck Mangione and Chris Botti records.

So please don't condescend to a young guy just trying to figure out the scene. Not all of us had the benefit of people around us caring about music at all, let alone jazz trumpet.

If you were to ask who the best living players are, Claudio would certainly be on the short list!

+1

I first heard Claudio on that United Nations DVD with Diz. Until then, I had no idea who he was. Now when people ask me who some of my favorite players are I mention him right away. Rarely, very rarely does anyone know who he is.

The mentioned Greg Abate recording with Claudio Roditi where they play tribute Horace Silver is fabulous.
