I was curious if anyone has played or been playing a yamaha Chicago model Bb and would share their thoughts about this horn, criticisms or praises. I've played several Yamaha Chicago artist model C Trumpets before and found it to be a good feel for me. Is the Bb similar? Any information is welcome.

Thank you

I have played both the Chicago C and Bflat, they do play about the same but my personal preference is for the New York model, but that's just me.

Owned one and played it in concert band for a season plus. Loved it. Projected wonderfully. Could play mezzo-forte while the rest of the section was blowing their brains out and delicate little stuff on Pines of Rome, according to MD, came out great.

Super sound. Goose bump sound. Had a Bach 3C and 3B, and with me blowing this horn, the 3B was just perfect. Really brought it to the table compared to the 3C.

Lots of resistance. Check out Chase Sanborne's review. It's out there someplace. I don't recall all that he said; but after owning one, I recollect thinking Yup; he got it right..

I remember showing up at a church in town with all my axes in tow to meet a buddy with all his toys to try each other's ware. He's much better than I, and I asked him if my Hagstrom was like a Xeno which I've never played. His reply was Oh, no! This is so NOT Xeno. Now, I don't know what that means, but that was his reaction.

I've the Bb and the C Yamaha Chicagos.

The Bb is a superb trumpet, but the C trumnpet is the best C trumpet that I've played.

All this equipment with a BACH 1C.

My advise, just try one and llok if it feets you

I had a Chicago Bb for a few years - a nice playing horn - very even scale throughout the range, secure slotting, nice classic trumpet sound. Slightly more compact feel, and a bit more resistance than the New York. For me the Vizzutti plays like a hybrid of the Chicago and New York (in-between the other two).
