Not a trumpet but hopefully Y'all can help me out
Mellophoniums have an odd reciever that takes a cornet shank with a conical f-horn cup mouthpiece, nobody makes mellophonium mouthpieces and mellophone mouthpieces change the tone of its sound and dont fit, the only working pieces are the old mp I have and a f horn mouthpiece if you force it inside.
Any ideas on how to get a shallower and thinner rimmed mouthpiece to fit?
The mellophonium mp has a huge rim conical cup ending with the cornet shank _________________ Killing my lips on anything but Flute or horn |

change the receiver to fit the piece you like. or have a copy of the piece you like made to fit the existing receiver. option 1 is probably cheaper. |

I got nothing regarding the OP's inquiry but I did enjoy reading about the somewhat obscure instrument.

Hello:
The Conn 1 that originally shipped with your mellophonium is similar to the Bach 5 Mouthpiece. I have not tried one of these (there a little too big for me), but I know of folks who have used this with success on their mellophoniums.
These show up on eBay at times or are available through online retailers:

I have a mellophonium and I'm not sure that the receiver is a cornet size. It seems to be it's own special size, somewhere between a french horn and a cornet. I found an Al Cass mellophone mouthpiece, and it fits perfectly in it. |
