Whats the difference in these two? If anyone has experience in these two horns what are your thoughts? What are their differences? Looking for info.
Thanks,

Both can be very nice sounding horns. The Excalibur, is a predecessor to the Regium II model. The Excalibur was a heavier built horn and had a .460 bore. The Regium II reversely, is a really light weight horn and has a .433 bore. I've owned both and enjoyed both. Either offering, has the potential, to be used for live performance. Hope that helped.

Other than the bore and weight, any other differences. In sound perhaps? |

Well, due to the heavier build of the Excalibur, I believe that it played somewhat darker than the Regium II. The response of the Regium II, would have been quicker, again being lighter. Both as mentioned, were great players. You may wish to you use a mouthpiece, other than the stock ones provided though. I know that I personally, was not too impressed with them.
Also, on at least the horns I owned, the Excalibur's valves were great upon arrival (had been purchased used, from a East coast professional player). The Regium II's were good but improved greatly over the first month and became very smooth and reliable.

At least I had the chance to play on an older Excalibur a while ago,
and I found it to be a very nice dark sounding flugel (wiht the WIckl 2FL I tried it with at least.
Looks as if that matches the experience my predecessor has made. |
